- Occupied with passengers the "Northwest" sails in dark blue water. Blowing high in the wind are several flags. There is one American flag and the other flags read: Detroit, Cleveland, Northwest, and M.C. R.R.This oil painting of the "Northwest", a D & C boat; is signed in the viewer's lower left by artist "S.A. Whipple, Detroit, 1883".
