Dramatic watercolour of the near shipwreck of the steamboat PLOUGHBOY with Lonely Island, Georgian Bay in the background. The party on board included a number of prominent Canadian politicians, some of whom would play a significant role in the Canadian Confederation movement five years later. Among them would be the first Prime Minister of the Dominion of Canada (in 1867), John A. Macdonald.
