Description
The crew of this American sloop must have been relieved to arrive at Fort Mackinac after their Lake Michigan voyage. Little did they know that the British had captured the fort in 1812 as one of the first moves of the war. The captured American flag was flown over the fort until it was too late for the American sailors to realize their mistake.
