Description
A backwater lake port before the war, Sackets Harbour, under the command of Commodore Chauncey , grew to become the largest American naval base on the Great Lakes. The Oneida, an 18-gun flagship, is seen beating out of the naval base past Fort Tompkins. A converted merchant schooner follows her out on this reconnaissance cruise early in the war.
