Inscribed in ink, mount l.r.: Major J.E. WOOLFORD, Del. 1824; In ink over pencil, mount l.c. AMHERSTBURG, FROM THE N.N. WEST. A watercolour version by Woolford of this view "Amherstburg, looking up the river", 146 x 240 mm., is in N.G.C. (#23424). See 'Dalhousie Journals' v.2, pp. 77-78 (23-24 July 1821). This watercolour is the one listed in Sotheby & Co. (Canada) auction catalogue, Toronto, 1 November 1972, lot 168 (withdrawn from sale and returned to Library). TEC 775A. Catalogued June 1982
