MARINE REVIEW. Wheres WWE A Novel Exhibit. Probably the most costly and extensive exhibit in the transportation building, World's Columbian Exposition, will be that of the International Navigation Company. A section of one ofthe trans atlantic steamers of this company, the New York and Paris, will be built up to one of the side walls of the big build- ing. As in the case of the battle ship built of brick on the fair grounds, visitors at the exposition can go aboard this midship section of the great Atlantic liner, which will be built full size and will include one of the immense smoke stacks. Cabins and other parts of the exhibit will appear just as they are on the boats, Extra space has been granted to the International com- pany, and the cost of the undertaking will be quite large. . ' GLOBE TRIPLE EXPANSION ENGINES. Coming Back to the Lakes. Capt. McDougall announces that the whaleback steamer Charles L. Colby and barge 110, which were built at West Superior and sent to the Atlantic coast some time ago, will be brought back to the lakes upon the opening of navigation. It "will be necessary to take the boats apart in bringing them through the St. Lawrence canals. Indications of a dull season on the coast and prosperous business on the lakes are causes given for bringing the barges back to the lakes. The boats were intended for the Cuban ore trade, but it is now announced that the whale- backs for which keels will soon be laid in England will be put into that trade. Probably the lake-built barges were not al- together suited to the ocean trade. The whale-back does not seem to thrive on salt water. CLEVELAND, OHIO, THURSDAY, MARCH 9, 1893. -No. Io.
