1899.] LAUNCH OF A LAKE FREIGHTER. THE WM. EB. REIS LEAVING THE WAYS, - ® THRICE-A-WEEK NEW YORK WORLD. The most widely circulated "weekly" newspaper in: America is the thrice-a-week edition of the New York World, and with the presidential campaign now at hand you cannot do without it. Here are some of the reasons why it is easily the leader in dollar a year journalism. It is issued every other day, and is to all purposes a daily. Every week each subscriber receives eighteen pages and often during the "busy" season twenty-four pages each week. The price is only $1.00 per year. It is virtually a daily at the price of a weekly. Its news covers:every known part of the. world. No weekly newspaper could stand alone and furnish such service. The thrice-a-week World has at its disposal all of the resources of the greatest newspaper in existence--the wonder of modern journalism--"America's greatest newspaper," as it has been justly termed, the New York World. Its political news is absolutey impartial. This fact will be of especial value in the presidential campaign coming on. The best of current fiction is found in its columns. These are only some of the reasons; there are others. Read it and see them all.--Adv. MARINE REVIEW. 2 ww TRADE NOTES. Johnson & Noyes recently opened an office at 1522 Monadnock build- ing, Chicago, in the interests of Beaudry & Co., Boston, manufacturers of power hammers and forging presses. M. Depuy, patentee of the Paragon water tube boiler, writes that he is sharing in the general improvement that has taken place every- where in shipping lines, and that among recent orders for boilers of his type is.one from Puget sound. His attention has been taken up largely with boats on the Erie canal, but now that navigation is closed he will be able to look after the boiler work. The B. F. Sturtevant Co. of Boston, Mass., reports an increase of nearly 40 per cent in the volume of its business for 1899 over 'that of the previous year. The shipments, both foreign and domestic, included fan blowers for all purposes, heating, ventilating, drying and mechanical draft apparatus, engines. electrical apparatus, etc. During the past year an addition covering 20,000 square feet has been made for the use of the electrical department, which has shown the most rapid growth, the out- put having more than doubled during the year, and covering principally electric fans and special generating sets. The sale of mechanical draft apparatus has been practically quadrupled, while the output of engines has increased one-third over that of the preceding year, and has included many special designs.
