Description
On August 4 and 5, 1813, U. S. brigs Lawrence and Niagara are lifted over the sandbar, with the aid of sinkable bags, called "camels," allowing them to finally sail on the Lake. With these brigs in deep water, the British lost command of Lake Erie.
