- From Captain W.P. Benham: Tug Samson and tow going out of Pt. Huron rapids with schooners making sail as tug will let go about three miles out on Lake Huron and schooners proceed under sail. First vessel is Sch. [Henry] C. Richards, 664 net tonnage carrying 1300 tons, W. P. Benham, Master. Queen City, second vessel, S.E. Benham, master, about 1400 tons. Zach Chandler, third vessel, C.A. Benham, master, about 1300 tons. C. H. Johnson, fourth vessel, Capt. Charles Wallace, master, seven hundred tons. Reindeer, fifth vessel, Capt. Wm. Sommerville, master, seven hundred tons. All loaded with coal for Lake Michigan ports.
