Norwegian Sloop Skjøldmøen, of Bergen
In 1863 this vessel crossed the Atlantic, and, by way of the St. Lawrence and Welland Canals, reached the upper Great Lakes. She was one of the first vessels under a foreign flag to come out to the Lakes and engage there in local trade, though many others have since followed her. - Date of Original
