Whaleback Type of Vessel for Bulk Cargo Transport
A class of ship which originated on the Great Lakes. Whalebacks, turret and trunk type steamers all belong to the same general class of cargo vessel, and differ but slightly in appearance. The vessel shown in the John Ericsson, of the Peterson Line, of Buffalo, N.Y.
