A-E-Co Steerer With Hele-Shaw Fluid Motor Electro-hydraulic power _ Applied to hand steerer The yacht Elena, a 136-footer owned by W. B. Bell, was equipped with a hand steering gear, which it was desired to convert to electro-hydraulic. This change was readily ac- complished by the use of the Hele-Shaw Hydraulic Pump and Hele-Shaw Fluid Motor shown above. The motor drives a worm and worm gear, utilizing the old shaft. The pump is direct-connected to a constant-speed electric motor and always rotates in the same direction, regardless of the di- ‘rection and amount of movement of the rudder.
