CE Lubricating the new Diesel tug ‘New Rochelle’ HE “New Rochelle” is a fine ex- ample of the modern economical Diesel towboat that is fast render- ing steam tugs obsolete. The pro- pelling unit is a six cylinder Fair- banks~ Morse Diesel engine, type “Y”, of 360 s.h.p., with a 3-bladed, 76 inch bronze propeller of 46-inch pitch. To protect this latest type power unit the lubricating oil selected is Dynol No. 309. Operating economy governed the choice of oil just as it dictated the advanced features of the propelling unit itself. The report of Mr. Chester H. San- ders, Secretary of the Red Star Tow- ing & Transportation Co., on their experience with Dynol No. 309 in the “New Rochelle” is brief but very much to the point. Mr. Sanders of the Red Star Towing & Transportation Co. reports on Dynol No. 309 “Since our new tug ‘New Ro- chelle,’ which is equipped with a 360 h. p. Fairbanks-Morse Diesel engine, went into operation, we have used your Dynol No. 309 lubricating oil, and it has given excellent service. “May we also at this time ex- press to you our appreciation of the very excellent service that has been rendered by your sales or- ganization in connection with our oil requirements. “Yours very truly, “RED STAR TOWING & TRANSPORTATION CO.
