Early in February, 1929, specifica- tions for two types of barges were issued and as a result of bids received, one of these vessels, the No-Nox was placed with the Fore River Plant of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. The contract stated that the vessel must carry 10,000 barrels of gasoline in addition to fuel, fresh water and stores on a draft of 11 feet 6 inches, and to give a speed of not less than 914 knots. These conditions have been successfully met in operation. The No-Nox was completed in five months from date of con- tract. She is of the usual single deck type with raised forecastle forward and deck house aft for berthing and messing the crew. Deck cover- ing was supplied by Selby Battersby Co. hers mae Niue ie ™~ te ié WN ii | | | | | ee | : t L faked MARINE REVIEw—April, 1930
