A NEW ALL-ELECTRIC SQUADRON JOINS THE “GREAT WHITE FLEET™ a 4 2 4, et, = San Francise WTA no ia [| “dD | 1 THE new all-electric United Mail liners of the United Fruit Company have con- siderably augmented the number of electric units within the “Great White Fleet.” The Talamanca, Chiviqui, Antigua, and Quirigua have already passed their sea trials and are plying the Atlantic, Pacific, and Caribbean waters, carrying both passengers and cargo. The Veragua has been launched and will go into service shortly. The complete electrification of these additions to the United Fruit Company’s fleet of 115 merchantmen is the result of experience gained in some 30 years of successful shipping in American waters. @ It is significant that in building for a well-ordered future, the United Fruit Company has chosen G-E propulsion equipment and auxiliaries. @ Through the experience they have gained in developing electric ship propulsion and in adapting it to all types of vessels, General Electric marine engineers in Schenectady, N. Y., can offer expert advice in any problem you may have. 173-28 GENERAL@ ELECTRIC MARINE REVIEw—May, 1932
