- Description
- This etched tin advertising sign for the Detroit and Cleveland Steam Navigation Company features an image of the passenger steamer City of Alpena. Gold text at the bottom advertises, "Daily Between Detroit and Cleveland, Daily Between Cleveland and Put-In-Bay, 4 Trips Per Week Detroit and Mackinac." The sign is a perfect example of the elongated perspective used in steamship advertising of the period. The artifact was donated by the Great Lakes Maritime Institute.
