- Description
- This oil painting depicts the D&C line’s Greater Buffalo and is signed “C.A. McCormack.” The artist was chief engineer of the ship in 1942, prior to its conversion to a U.S. Navy aircraft carrier in WWII. He later was an assistant engineer on the City of Detroit III and the Greater Detroit. The illustration is detailed but primitive, and reflects the elongated views used in D&C advertising of the period. It was donated in memory of Cdr. & Mrs. Campbell McCormack, Sr.
