Description
This unusual work by Seth Arca Whipple was painted on a wooden artist’s palette, and illustrates an unnamed, generic package freighter of the period. Whipple was a highly sought Detroit artist who produced numerous commissions for ship owners, resulting in dozens of detailed paintings. This piece was donated by George W. Stark, editor of the Detroit News, in 1951
