- Description
- The Put-In-Bay was designed by Frank Kirby and launched in 1911 at the Wyandotte yards of the Detroit Shipbuilding Company. It ran daily passenger excursions from Detroit to the Lake Erie Islands, Sandusky and Toledo for the Ashley & Dustin Steamer Line. Laid up in 1951, it was sold for scrap and burned down to iron and steel on Lake St. Clair in October, 1953. Final scrapping performed along the Rouge River.
This lithograph is from a painting by "Captain" Jim Clary, who operated a studio in St. Clair, Michigan. This print is part of his "Great Lakes History in Art" series. - Date of Original
