Description
This is a black and white pencil drawing titled " All In A Day's Work" by Vernon Bailey. It shows a freighter at a dock being built. On the right is scaffolding. A ramp leading to the ship has workers coming a going. Workmen are on deck and dockside carrying tools. On the left is a crane and additional scaffolding.
Besides the title and signature along the bottom is the notation "Ashtebula.19" signifying location and a 1919 date of original.
Vernon Bailey was a well-traveled and highly published illustrator, starting with the Philadelphia Times at age 18, then moving to the Boston Herald two years later. Over the next five decades, he worked for most of America's major magazines, and fulfilled numerous private commissions. In 1917 he was authorized by the Navy to sketch areas of investment during World War I. He repeated this task during WWII. He died in 1953.
The print has a white mat with a chrome frame.
