    This tug (towboat) was built in 1872 by S.R. Kirby at Campbell & Owen, Detroit.

    The schooner WILLIS sank in Lake Erie with a load of iron ore in November 1872 at the end of her first season.

    The WILLIS was first enrolled in May 1872 and sank the following November about 20 miles north of Lorain, OH and east of Point Pelee following a collision with the ELIZABETH JONES.
