Detroit, July 18, 1839

Abram Wendell Esq.

Dear Sir

Capt. James Slemmen, the bearer will hand this to you. He is in command of the schooner Cambria and will touch at Mackinac with a view of getting out new papers. The Cambria was purchased by me from Enoch Jones the former owner for Mr. Henry T. Stringham of Green Bay in your district. Mr. Stringham is now at Green Bay. The schooner is intended for the Lumber Trade between Twin Rivers & Chicago. You will please make out the papers in the name of Mr. Stringham. James Slemmen master. Mr. Slemmen has the Bill of Sale for Mr. Jones which he will shew you.
