    Dear sir Mr. Burton said he would report the whole quarter if he should it would probably be right but as he left the Island immediately I thought best to make one from he time I commenced Yours &c Z

   

    Announces appropriations for lighthouses at mouth of Chicago River, St. Joseph's River, out Thunder Bay Island, light boat for Straits of Mackinac, and buoys on St. Clair Flats.

    Colonel Dygert condemned much of the apparatus. His opinion is had been in use and condemned at some other Light House.

    In my last quarterly return I expected to discontinue my light by the 1st of December & consequently so made my return. But the "Chicago Packet" continued to run between this & Chicago for some time
